Armor Lux

The classic Armor Lux label is known the world over for its striped shirts, which have been worn by the likes of Pablo Picasso, Kirk Douglas, Jean Paul Sartre, Madonna, Brigit Bardot and Marilyn Monroe. The original Breton striped shirt in pure cotton was the official French sailor’s uniform, its 21 stripes symbolising Napoleon’s 21 victories. The striped design was also developed for safety reasons – sailors in stripes were easier to find if they fell overboard.
