John Smedley

The historical brand of John Smedley was founded in 1784, and still manufactures its products in the same place in Derbyshire in England – in the world’s oldest working factory. 
The brand originally specialised in underwear. Today it is known for exquisite knitwear produced with extra fine New Zealand merino wool from selected merino wool farmers or of Sea Island cotton, which is known as the finest cotton in the world. John Smedley is a classic knitwear brand, but also showed a more experimental side in the 1980s when it produced collections for Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Comme des Garcon and Katharine Hamnett.
